Before there was a race team, there was an E46.
Afiléon Motorsport did not begin with a business plan or a polished paddock. It grew from years of building, breaking, repairing and learning — then finding a practical way to keep a grassroots racing ambition moving.
2020. One BMW. No race team.
In 2020, the BMW E46 arrived as an ordinary road car and became the project that quietly laid the foundations for everything that followed.
Over the years it was lowered, stripped, repainted, modified and continually developed. Coilovers, a high-lift camshaft, exhaust work, wheels and countless smaller changes turned it into a hands-on mechanical education. At one stage it even carried a subwoofer setup — because the project was never born as a carefully planned race-car programme. It was simply a car we enjoyed building.
An accident later forced a substantial rebuild. Damaged parts were replaced, bodywork repaired and the car returned to the road. It was painted again and changed again, but one feature survived every version: black and orange.
The E46 now predates Afiléon Motorsport itself. Repainting it simply to match the current neon identity would make the fleet more uniform, but it would erase a visible part of the reason the team exists. The black-and-orange car stays.
Eventually the project sat largely unused. Then the idea changed. Instead of starting another road-car build, the ambition became simple: go racing.

The cost of arriving at a circuit is relentless: transport, preparation, equipment, entries, fuel, consumables and repairs. Rather than let those costs end the programme, Afiléon Motorsport began developing the practical services we ourselves needed.
